Acquisition of Baltimore-based elite lacrosse organization supports 3STEP Sports’ focus on growing its girls’ sports portfolio

WILMINGTON, Mass. (Jan. 18, 2022) 3STEP Sports, the most impactful youth sports ecosystem in the nation, has acquired Robinson Sports, an elite girls’ lacrosse organization which also includes the highly successful M&D Lacrosse Club and the National Girls Lacrosse League (NGLL).

Robinson was founded by Chris Robinson, one of the top high school girls’ lacrosse coaches in the nation. Robinson made his mark at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD, by compiling a 257-9 record in 13 years. His teams won 10 IAAM championships, had a 177-game winning streak and was the No. 1 team in the country for nine consecutive years. Robinson is currently the head girls’ lacrosse coach at Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, FL.

“Joining 3STEP Sports is a huge step for us,” said Robinson Sports founder and president Chris Robinson. “We created Robinson to produce more opportunities for girls’ lacrosse players to develop and showcase their skills. 3STEP will help us grow our business, our reach, and will enable us take things to the next level.”

Robinson Sports was established in 2014 to create opportunities for girls in the sport. Over the past eight years, hundreds of players have gone on to play in college. The group runs several major tournaments, including the Spring Girls’ Club National Tournament Championship, UnderArmour 150, Mid-Atlantic Showcase, Chesapeake Invitational and BWI Middle School and High School Indoor leagues. In addition, the organization runs the Robinson Sports Foundation, which supports underprivileged youth and college bound student-athletes.

A major focus of 3STEP’s growth is around girls’ sports. Currently, girls make up nearly 50% of the company’s ecosystem and there are plans to add more girls’ clubs and events.

“Robinson Sports is a very important addition to our lacrosse group,” said 3STEP Sports founder and CEO David Geaslen. “What Chris Robinson has done in a relatively short amount of time is remarkable. We look forward to helping Robinson become an even bigger player in the girl’s lacrosse space.”

The 3STEP reach spans 40+ states and serves more than 3 million athletes across eight sports through industry-leading events, nationally spanning club programs, premier media content and more. The mission of 3STEP is to be the standard of the youth sports experience and create consistency in the industry.
