Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

3STEP is looking for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to actively support the 3STEP organization as we grow. 3STEP Sports is the largest youth sport event and club operator in the nation, providing brands with the ability to impact more athletes than ever in a unique and authentic way. The 3STEP reach spans 40+ states and currently serves more than 2.5 million athletes. We deliver a premier, inspiring and authentic experience – dedicated to perfecting every aspect of the athlete funnel. Encompassing industry-leading tournaments, nationally spanning club programs, premier media content and more, 3STEP is the standard of the youth sports experience.

This role is located in-person at the company’s headquarters in Wilmington, MA.

The FP&A Director will manage a team of 2 analysts and be the primary lead on the budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting process as ad hoc assigned projects. The role will report directly to the CFO and be a business partner to the broader 3STEP team.

Overall, the role will:

  • Support the annual operating plan, budget and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Develop internal reporting packages, dashboards and monthly reports to support decision making
  • Review monthly results with department heads and provide variance explains to budget/prior year/ forecast
  • Partner with accounting, tax and corporate to develop entity level forecasting models and improve timeliness of internal reporting
  • Balance Sheet and Cash Forecasting
  • Support the M&A process
  • Proactively identify, design, and implement enhancements to existing processes in collaboration with the accounting team
  • Provide management with forecast insights, performance metrics and financial analytics for improved organizational decision making
  • Strong knowledge of FP&A reporting systems


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Management and supervisory experience.
  • Working with a Private Equity backed company a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and procedures in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and financial troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Word)
  • Advanced knowledge of NetSuite, Hyperion and/or other similar systems a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work cross-functionally with all areas of the business, including non-finance individuals at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may require individual to work on multiple deliverables/work streams to support company growth initiatives with similar timelines
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
